Brainstorming is an independent Portuguese animated series of absurd comedy and dark humor, created in 2024–2025 by the Brainstorming Team. It follows a group of gifted garbage collectors in Trancoso whose waste-collection routines spiral into absurd global catastrophes, with dark humor, cartoonish violence and pop culture references.

Stuck as garbage collectors for different reasons, a crew of dysfunctional young prodigies turns suburban boredom into pure surreal chaos and interplanetary destruction.

Brainstorming is set in Trancoso, a small historic Portuguese town. That's where the gifted garbage collectors live and work, turning routine waste collection into absurd global catastrophes.

The main characters in Brainstorming are: Gambito Halloween (de facto leader, cyborg with an IQ of 535), Nova Tesla (operational leader), Aleixo (elite hacker), Aiden (Angolan lawyer, sub-leader), Van Eyck (geek, aerospace engineer) and O Chefe (authoritarian supervisor). See the full cast.

Gambito Halloween is the de facto leader of Brainstorming. He is a cyborg with an IQ of 535, caused by a rare condition called the Prometheus Tumor. Self-proclaimed "a God in a human body", he has integrated advanced technology into his own body. He holds a doctorate in medicine (having lost his license) and is the one who solves problems, mostly the ones he himself creates, through force or intelligence.

Nova Tesla is the group's operational leader in Brainstorming. Rational and calm under pressure, he doesn't seek power but takes on responsibility to negotiate, justify actions and prevent destructive impulses. He drives the Starwind, a garbage truck modified for survival and escape.

Aleixo is the hacker of the Brainstorming series. Holding doctorates in Computer Engineering and Biomedicine (completed in record time), he is a "One-Man APT" capable of planning and executing state-scale cyberattacks completely alone. He's a fanboy of works like Bruno Aleixo and classics like The Matrix.

Aiden is the operational sub-leader of Brainstorming. An Angolan lawyer, charming, confident and blue-eyed. He is highly specialized in the Portuguese Constitution and constantly quotes laws and articles to negotiate and point out illegalities, becoming annoying amid the chaos.

Van Eyck is the geek of the Brainstorming series. From a wealthy family, he holds a degree in aerospace engineering. Passionate about movies, games and useless trivia, he panics easily and talks too much, but amid the chaos he keeps the group's optimism and unity.

O Chefe is the direct supervisor of the gifted garbage collectors in Brainstorming. Rigid, authoritarian and extremely demanding, he uses constant threats (pay cuts or dismissal) to keep the team in line. He is subservient to the company's real owner, but makes up for it by being relentless with his subordinates.

So far, the Brainstorming Team has announced two episodes: "Pilot" (Episode 1) and "The Unpronounceable" (Episode 2). Both are in production. See the list of episodes.
